| Dr. David Herbert Argues for Teaching of Origins |
| Dear friends, Dr. David Herbert, of London, ON, is a retired teacher and author of several books on the issue of the topic of origins, and has lobbied the Thames Valley School Board to bring into the discussions of origins the arguments for creationism. He has prepared, with a lawyer, a Parental Empowerment document. It is now available on his website, CCEO.net. I have also pasted it below. Here is an invitation by him to get a copy, and to learn about his efforts to persuade the Thames Valley School Board. I am sure he would very much appreciate our prayers. We should be pressuring our own school boards to follow the Education Act and local Education policies and teach both 'theories'/'presuppositions' when teaching origins, and other issues as well. Dr. Herbert's books gives the arguments well, and would be very helpful. "This morning, I had a meeting with Ron Easton of the Christian Service Centre and he informed me of the Hamilton Family Action Organization. I was wondering if you would be interested in receiving information regarding the work of Citizens Concerned About Education and Origins here in London. Our latest initiative is 'Parental Empowerment and the Instruction of Origins.' Our group has been lobbying the Thames Valley District School Board since February 2001. Unfortunately, it has become evident to us that we must move into the legal realm. A Christian lawyer and I went through the Ontario Education Act and other directives from the Ministry and the local Board and drafted the parental empowerment document. To date, two parents have presented it to their respective secondary schools. Attached is an article that was written about me (in the London Free Press) on Friday, 1 October, three days before the October Board presentation. It was at this meeting that I explained the document paragraph by paragraph. Hopefully, my webpage for Citizens Concerned About Education and Origins (CCEO) will be completed tomorrow (Nov.24/04). The website will have the Parental Empowerment document and the three books that I have written on the topic of origins. [It is now up and running at www.cceo.net.] In a few weeks, Focus on the Family will be sending out an email article regarding the empowerment document on the biweekly,'Family Facts'."
Sincerely, HWFAC friends, you may write to Dr. David Herbert at origins@sympatico.ca.
