Child Pornography - By now, many of you heard of the appalling rulings made by B.C. Supreme Court Justice Duncan Shaw with regard to both the pornographic photos and the written material in the possession of pedophile John Robin Sharpe. All materials were involving boys as young as 6, and young men, and were clearly violent, perverted and sado-masochistic - clearly examples of child abuse.

For being found guilty of possession of 517 photos of nearly 100 boys, many photos taken in his living room, he was given a four-month conditional sentence, basically house arrest, with the conditions including having no contact with anyone under 18, no use of the Internet without the permission of his corrections supervisor, and staying home between 4 p.m. and 8 a.m.

For the production and possession of the written material, he was found not guilty, on the grounds that the material held 'artistic merit'!

What we can do: Please do at least one of the following:

1. Become informed. Subscribe to or log on to Focus on the Family, at 1-800-661-9800, or www.familyfacts.ca, fotf.ca, or focusonthefamily.ca, to Canadian Family Action Coalition (CFAC), at 1-403-295-2159 or www.familyaction.org, and/or Evangelical Fellowship of Canada (EFC) at 1-905-479-5885 or www.evangelicalfellowship.ca. There are many more, but these are, in my opinion, the top 3 organizations.
   
2. sign a petition. Find one at the Focus on the Family website.
   
3. Write letters to Prime Minister Jean Chretien, Justice Minister Martin Cauchon and your local MP about the need for a stronger child pornography law. Write in care of The House of Commons, Ottawa, ON K1A 0A6.
   
4. Make an appointment to visit your MP, and take a friend with you. Ask him/her how they voted on the recent motion to raise the Age of Sexual Consent to 18 years of age and why.
   
5. Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper, and
   
6. Pray.
