The School Board's Anti-Judeo-Christian, Homosexual Agenda Takes Shape Hamilton-Wentworth Family Action Council continues to represent the Judeo-Christian community at the H-W District School Board's Steering Committee, which is working to apply the Equity Policy under the category of Sexual Orientation. The agenda of many of the Committee members is becoming more clear as the meetings proceed. It seems that one trustee and some board staff are pushing through a policy which will label Judeo-Christian kids, families, and teachers who disagree with homosexuality as "heterosexist" or "homophobic". This in turn will pave the way for an "unlearning process" to be applied against these families and to teach the children and teachers that they must accept and agree with homosexuality or risk having discipline or sanctions applied against them.

The arguments we have heard do not hold water, and in our view the tactics of the leadership are manipulative and without regard for the input of our community. "Heterosexist" and "homophobic" are very negative terms, and their use against Judeo-Christian kids and Board employees will no doubt make them the target of programs and curriculum designed to change their minds; to teach them to accept homosexuality and other sexual deviations as normal and natural. In a radical turnabout,... More...

debate As reported in our November 2005 newsletter, the Hamilton-Wentworth District Board (HWDSB) prepared the 400-page, 4th edition of the Growth and Development (Sex-Education) curriculum and invited our Council to review and provide comment. We provided page-by-page critique over a 4-month period and in February met with the superintendent and school board staff that worked with Public Health to write this latest edition. We were presented with a detailed, charted response to each of our comments. The Board put a lot of effort and thought into our critique and ...

Positive Aspects: The curriculum does have many positive activities and on numerous occasions directs students to discuss things with their parents or clergy, and we say bravo! ...

Negative Aspects: Sadly, we must now report some very serious concerns, which to us are like rat poison in a bowl of nutritious cereal. The cereal may be full of nutrients, but it only takes a bit of the poison to destroy every benefit of the cereal. Do remember these are only some of the concerns.

Grade 6: We are supportive of cross-sectional schematic-type anatomy diagrams .... However, what we do not support are the detailed (almost photo-like), ... More ...

PRAY FOR:

pray
  1. Our representatives as they participate in Equity Policy (sexual orientation S.O.)) committee meetings. Pray for our legal counsel. Pray for the members and leadership of the S.O. committee. Pray the Lord's will be done in each of their lives, and in the development of this important policy.

  2. Pray that the Council can also bring alongside Director Chris Spence to understand and respect our concerns, and that legal action will not become necessary.

  3. Pray for School Board Superintendent Krys Croxall, and Public Health Nurse Debbie Sprentz (the author of the revised sex education curriculum) and the meetings with Jim Enos and Lynne Scime. There are many parts in the revised curriculum that are unacceptable to our families.

  4. Pray that this new government will reverse same-sex marriage, and reinstate decency laws and abortion laws, to name just a few.

  5. Pray for financial support for HWFAC.

Invitation - Become a Partner with HWFAC

The HWFAC Council is committed Hamilton-region Christians dedicated to keeping abreast of local issues as they affect our living out our faith, and to encouraging our numerous churches and individuals who have signed up with us to be involved, to be at the public table, and to be a voice for righteousness in your sphere of influence. We also want to be a very positive help to those who find themselves needing the support of their brothers and sisters in Christ, e.g. Birthright's Crisis Pregnancy Centre.

We would very much appreciate your physical, prayerful and financial support for 2006, as we set a goal to prepare, mail out and post a quarterly newsletter, and to prepare for workshops and seminars if and when they become necessary. We must attend many meetings at the School Board and review and copy many materials. Our costs are low; however, there are photocopies, postage, envelopes, and website costs to be covered each year.

Please consider partnering with us as we represent you at the public table, in particular, within the H-W Public School Board, and many times, City Hall, regarding issues of moral and eternal significance to the people of God.

Our membership/partnership page can be found here. Any donation would be appreciated very much. Membership for one year HWFAC is $15.00, and membership for one year for both HWFAC and CFAC is $36.00. Thank you.

HWFAC Highlights - Work of 2005

HWDSB Continues to Press the 'Unlearning Process' Our Council has again spent much of our effort in addressing the very significant issue of the forming of the HWDSB Equity Policy (sexual orientation). Two years ago, Trustee Brennan referred to it as the "Unlearning Process", which would, in fact, attempt to 'unlearn' our children ...

8th Annual Scavenger Hunt for Birthright HWFAC sponsored the 8th Annual Scavenger Hunt for Birthright at Annunciation of Our Lord Parish. 10 churches attended and contributed 948.5 pounds of infant and maternity clothing and supplies as well as $1,245.00 in cash; a very significant morning! ...

Another Family Action Council has been spawned! Through our website, we were contacted for assistance in establishing a new Family Action Council which would work with it's local municipality and school board to restore, preserve and protect Biblical Judeo-Christian principles and truths ...

Growth and Development (Sex-Ed) Curriculum - 4th Edition In March of 2004, our Council was contacted by the school board to preview the latest 4th edition of the Growth and Development Curriculum. This was in advance of it being released to the classroom. ...

debate The same kinds of issues that are being addressed here in Hamilton must of course be addressed in every municipality across Canada. It is our belief that the most effective method of restoring and preserving Judeo-Christian principles and family values is to work locally at each school board and city hall across Canada. Holding school boards to maintain Judeo-Christian principles will shape the minds of our future leaders in a manner that will help to ensure that Judeo-Christian principles will thrive. Allowing them to replace Judeo-Christian principles with amoral humanism will only foster the further decay of our already crumbling foundations.

It was our privilege to be invited to Madoc (just north of Bellville) and put on a workshop which encouraged residents to take up the cause of restoring and preserving Judeo-Christian principles and family values. Approximately 30 attended and many drove 80 km from outlying areas such as Bancroft to learn about what can be done when some determine to 'Shake Salt and Shine Light in the Community'. The workshop consisted of 3 sessions, the first of which ... More ...

ontarioflag On December 13, 2005, new legislation was introduced by the Ontario government to raise the compulsory school age to 18. When passed, there will be a link to education and obtaining a driver's license. The student will need to show proof of their education in order to get a driver's license. Families that have chosen a non-traditional education will probably face unnecessary bureaucracy when their child/children go to get their license. This is only one concern with Bill 52.

Parents need to be informed on how Bill 52 will enforce the new age of attendance. It is important to voice your concerns now. You can contact your MPP, write a letter, call them, or go see them in person to get more information regarding Bill 52, and to ask questions or voice your concerns about the Bill.
