With issues like same-sex marriage, sexual orientation (passage of Bill C-250 earlier this month), child pornography, and courts over-stepping their responsibilities, Christians are asking how they should respond and what effect such legal decisions will have on their church, pastor and even their faith.

To inform, challenge and motivate Christians to be "salt and light" in their communities, Focus on the Family created a dynamic, multimedia presentation titled "Making a Difference in Your World." It takes participants through a fascinating glimpse of our Canadian Christian heritage and into discussions on such topics as "How can we be effective advocates for Christian truth in today's secular marketplace of ideas?"

HWFAC, working with Hamilton churches, has organized four fall Christian Citizen Seminars. The Seminar will make a difference in how Christians impact their world.

"Attending the Focus on the Family, Canada, Christian Citizen Seminar in Dunnville in November, 2002 helped our organization to more effectively communicate our Christian values within the secular world. The Seminar helped us to adjust our Christian-values alternative public school program proposal, which the Hamilton School Board had been considering for 2 years. After presenting the revised proposal using the skills learned, the School Board sent a letter indicating they wanted to accept the proposal. Our organization is now working co-operatively with School Board senior management to get the government to amend the Education Act to encourage such innovative alternative programs." Government legislation is being forced upon society because Christians, for too long, have not been involved. The same-sex marriage decision and Bill C-250 have started to awaken the faith community. This seminar, as the next step, provides the tools needed for Christians to represent righteousness within the secular world.
