HWDSB Equity Policy
Update
Equity Policy and Anti-racism and Ethnocultural Equity Guidelines: The HWFAC (accompanied by four pastors), had a productive meeting with Superintendent Chuck Reid and Equity Consultant Bill Torrens of the HWDSB (School Board) on Wednesday, June 9 regarding the many concerns that HWFAC has with the HWDSB Supporting Guidelines of the Equity Policy regarding Antiracism and Ethnocultural Equity. Discussed were: the difference between selective invitation (used by HWDSB in gathering input) versus open consultation, the dangers of embracing all behaviours as equal versus recognizing that only humans are equal and it is the behaviours which separate them, Equity Committee's imbalance and poor community cross-section, and the Equity Committee's many re-definitions of key words. One key redefinition was race .... More....
Superintendent Reid has now been sent a list of other re-definitions that are concerning and require correction. We would ask that you continue to pray over this situation. See Appendix A .

Declaration of Spiritual Values document
A MUST for The Coming School Year - If you are like most parents in the community of faith today, you may find it difficult to express and discuss your beliefs with educators, as they pertain to their instruction of your child. In fact, you may have an image in your mind of "wild-eyed extremists" trying to sap your child's mind of all spiritual values and religious instruction, in favour of their humanistic agenda and indoctrination. Similarly, they may view you, the parent, as a "wild-eyed extremist" espousing a restrictive and Puritan agenda, resistant to their "inclusive" and "open-minded" views. With a strong possibility of a harsh confrontation looming, what is a parent to do?

7th Annual SCAVENGER HUNT for BIRTHRIGHT

Birthright is a pro-life crisis counseling center located on Barton Street in Hamilton. In addition to counseling, Birthright provides assistance in talking to family, partnering for pre-natal classes, attendance during birth, adoption referrals, infant clothing and toiletries, maternity clothing and we have probably missed a few other services that they provide at no charge to the young expectant mothers. HWFAC is pleased to have sponsored the 7th annual Scavenger Hunt for Birthright. On Saturday June 9th, 511 pounds of infant and maternity clothing and supplies as well as $1,622 in donations was collected by 8 churches for a total of $2,133 point. The top church was King's View Community who not only contributed 942 points but also hosted the hunt and barbecue for the third time. King's View will again hang the plaque in their fellowship hall until next year.
HWFAC is seeking a new host church for next year and invites more churches to participate. Please contact Penny Enos at (905) 383-2282.

An alarming pornographic public display is currently displayed in Niagara Region, in the form of a billboard sponsored by AIDS Niagara (funded by Health Canada). The display features naked men, one lying on the back of the other, which suggests the homosexual act of sodomy. The captions read "If he was positive he would tell me" and "If he was negative he would tell me." HWFAC has chosen not to include the photograph in this newsletter as it would sicken many.
This may hit Hamilton next.

A Funding Reminder

It continues to be our policy to request financial support of members only once annually in our spring mailing. The vast majority of our supporters did again faithfully respond.
For those of you who did not, we trust it was an oversight and we look forward to your renewal. Without your financial support, the thousands of dollars spent each year on behalf of Judaeo-Christian Values would have to come out of the pockets those who now already volunteer their many hours and gas mileage expenses.
We have enclosed a membership renewal form only for those who have failed to renew and would encourage you to be part of a necessary fight for values here in Hamilton. Just $12 per year($1 per month) provides you with our quarterly newsletter and the joy of knowing that you are part of HWFAC's fight for the family! Thank you.
