HWFAC has a new Post Office Box!
Please note the current one above. Thanks! :-)

HWDSB Equity Policy introduces unsafe, unhealthy curriculum: We regret to report that the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB) last February paved the way for the implementation of indoctrinational programs that may include anti-homophobia curriculum, and acceptance of other lifestyles, practices and beliefs that are unhealthy and unsafe physically, emotionally and spiritually to our children, through its new Equity Policy Guidelines.

Balderdash! They have taken familiar terms, like equity, culture, and ethnicity, and changed their meanings. They have redefined these terms to include all social groups and individuals who define themselves socially and/or psychologically, or as some type of culture or non-dominant individual or group. (They are supposed to be related to historical background, ancestry, language, religion, common values, practices and beliefs, not by the broad definitions given by the HWDSB.)
More Balderdash! They have also changed the meanings of bias, discrimination, and curriculum. Over the past 9 months, they have cooperated very little with HWFAC in changing the policy's definitions back to internationally understood meanings. Only the definitions of 'race' and 'prejudice' have been changed back.

Authority: The HWFAC maintains that parents, taxpayers, and the laws of this province dictate what values our children learn in public schools - school boards do not without parental consent from parents!

Minutes of HWDSB/HWFAC Meetings
June 9 and Nov. 1/04 Condensed

For complete versions, see June 9th/04 and Nov.1/04.
June 9, 2004: Present: From HWDSB: Bill Torrens, Consultant and Chuck Reid, Superintendent. Pastors: Steve Whyte, Gord Norman, Raj Sandhu, Roy Pierce. From HWFAC: Jim Enos, Vice-President, Gloria Turner, Research Director
Objective: To discuss concerns regarding the Equity/Anti-Racism Policy and Supporting Guidelines
Sup't. Reid: Faith groups were not invited to be participants for Racism portion of Equity Policy. HWDSB consultation process is that HWDSB identifies groups whom they invite; the consultation is not an open invitation. Toronto District School Board was looked at closely as a possible model for Hamilton. Toronto had serious problems including fistfights among various communities. The Equity Committee will not go back to the definition of race as defined by the Ministry. The policy is passed.
Nov.1, 2004: Present: HWDSB: Bill Torrens, and Chuck Reid, Pastors: Steven Whyte, Gord Norman, Raj Sandhu.HWFAC: Jim Enos, Gloria Turner. HWDSB Trustees: John Davidson, Lillian Orban.
Trustee Orban expressed the need to have all stakeholder communities consulted regarding the re-definitions including the faith communities and asked if this had been done. Sup't Reid response: This has not been done, as it is too much effort. Trustee Orban Q. as to whether the re-definitions had been submitted to Miriam-Webster for their review. Sup't Reid response: This did not happen. Trustee Orban Q. Whether the re-definitions had been submitted to other boards and to the Ministry of Education. Sup't Reid response: They had not been. HWDSB did look at 2 other school board examples, Toronto and Peel. Consultant Torrens response: Advised that more re-definitions are coming to be added to the glossary.
Enos Q. Will communities who do not support same-gender unions be declared racist by the HWDSB and their children unlearned in their spiritual truths? Sup't Reid response: [No response.] Complete condensed version... .

Prayer Items

Dear faithful prayer warriors, please pray for the following:
  1. HWFAC Council, especially Jim and Gloria, for wisdom and courage as HWFAC mounts a campaign to pressure the School Board to correct the Equity Policy definitions. Pray that the Lord will bring victory, and that our children and teachers will be safe physically, emotionally and spiritually in our public schools due to good policies, teaching and practices. Our families are more vulnerable than ever!
  2. Pray for our School Board, the trustees, Superintendents (especially Chuck Reid, Elizabeth Bond, and Krys Croxall), Director Dr. Chris Spence, and the Equity Committee that their minds and their hearts would be touched and changed by the Lord Jesus Christ. Pray for their wisdom and courage to do the right thing.
  3. Pray that our community would rise up in great numbers to pray and speak out faithfully and righteously on behalf of our community's children and teachers. That each person would be obedient to do as the Lord instructs his heart and mind to do.
  4. That PACE schools would find favour with school boards across Ontario, approved by all School Boards, and started up.
("For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rules, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." Eph. 6:12)

The Tragedy of Sexual Health Clinics

September 21, 2004: Mr. Bielak's recent article regarding the possible closure of the Waterdown and Ancaster Sexual Health clinics paints a bleak picture, resulting in tragic consequences. His article is parallel to a feature in the Spectator dated February of 1997 regarding the reduction in services to Planned Parenthood Hamilton. There it was stated, "Program reduction will result in reduced use of medical services by sexually active teenaged girls. This will lead to increased adolescent pregnancy, increased abortions, increased numbers of adolescent mothers on social assistance and increased rates of sexually transmitted diseases."

Both articles, fortunately, were incorrect. Hamilton's Public Health Department, in a 1998 report on their perception of the need for sexual health clinics, wrote, "The availability of effective birth control led the way for more liberal attitudes towards pre-marital sexual involvement and adolescents began participating in sexual activities in significant numbers." That statement is correct and has been proven here in Hamilton-Wentworth since 1987, the year when additional public health nurses were hired to run sexual health clinics and work in school classrooms, advocating their value-free, condom-based, 'safe-sex' ideology. From 1987 through to 1997, Hamilton-Wentworth teen pregnancy rates immediately and steadily increased year by year. By 1997 the rates had increased 25%. More...

The Missing Fall Newsletter

newsletter Some of you may have noticed that you did not receive a quarterly fall newsletter this year as we did not produce one. There had not been a lot of local news relating to HWFAC concerns since the July newsletter and we considered the value in spending the time to produce one with little to report. In addition, my father became seriously ill and was hospitalized in late August. While he remained hospitalized, much of the little spare time I had was spent at the hospital, just being there, as he did not want to be alone in his last days. On Friday October 8th, we brought Dad home so that he could pass on in the home that he had built almost 50 years ago. On Monday October 11, 2004 my father, Lorne Elgin Enos, did pass on to glory. On Friday October 15, I moved to Ancaster to be close to my mother and provide support for her through the difficult and lonely days which lay ahead.

Having said this, the fall was a difficult time for myself, in addition to there being little to write about. I was unable to put the necessary time into assisting in the production of a newsletter and thus we opted to wait until December. Much has happened recently, in particular with the 'Unlearning Process' as you will notice in this newsletter and we have been placing almost all of our efforts into battle this policy of mandatory damning indoctrination. HWFAC supporter, now as much as ever, it is time to pray as we enter once again into spiritual arfare. At stake are the souls of our children.

(CFAC articles condensed) RBC Institutes Rainbow Sticker Program -
CFAC calls for Boycott

Royal Bank Coerces Employees to Display "Rainbow Triangle" 9/9/04
The Royal Bank of Canada launched a sexual orientation campaign to request its employees to “be supportive” of “gay, lesbian and bisexual issues”. The inference of this militant campaign is the Bank will not tolerate “unsupportive” workers and that is discrimination and intolerance.
Their newsletter leads you to believe that homophobia is a problem in the Bank. It states “Many employees simply do not know the facts about GLBT (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered), while others are openly hostile."

Boycott succeeds – RBC Cancels Program 10/18/04
As a result of the decision of RBC’s senior management to cancel the sticker program, CFAC is immediately canceling our boycott. We would like to thank all of you who joined in this boycott and moved your accounts and investments from RBC to express your disagreement with the Rainbow Space program.
We also learned that only about 10% of employees responded to the program and requested the sticker, which indicates little internal support for the program. More...
