SODOMY ON BILLBOARDS

An alarming pornographic public display is currently displayed in Niagara Region, in the form of a billboard sponsored by AIDS Niagara (funded by Health Canada). The display features naked men, one lying on the back of the other, which suggests the homosexual act of sodomy. The captions read "If he was positive he would tell me" and "If he was negative he would tell me." HWFAC has chosen not to include the photograph in this newsletter as it would sicken many.

This may hit Hamilton next, on the local Viacom billboards. Both HWFAC and CPCS (Canadians for Positive Community Standards) are writing to City Hall to alert them of this fact, and to ask that they prevent it from happening. Perhaps we need a by-law to be passed in order to stop the increasingly lewd and suggestive advertising on billboards and bus shelters in greater Hamilton?

We Need Everyone Concerned To Write and/or call their Councillor! A list of our City Councillors is below and also attached. Please consider calling or writing your councillor, and the Mayor, this week, if not today.

Offences Tending to Corrupt Morals - Section 163 Criminal Code:

Every one commits an offence who:
1. makes, prints, publishes, distributes, circulates or has in his possession for the purpose of publication, distribution or circulation any obscene written matter, picture, model, phonograph record or other thing whatever; or
2. makes, prints, publishes, distributes, sells or has in his possession for the purpose of publication, distribution or circulation a crime comic.
Every one commits an offence who knowingly, without lawful justification or excuse,
1. sells, exposes to public view or has in his possession for such a purpose any obscene written matter, picture, model, phonograph record or other thing whatever;
2. publicly exhibits a disgusting object or an indecent show;
3. offers to sell, advertises or publishes an advertisement of, or has for sale or disposal, any means, instructions, medicine, drug or article intended or represented as a method of causing abortion or miscarriage; or
4. advertises or publishes an advertisement of any means, instructions, medicine, drug or article intended or represented as a method for restoring sexual virility or curing venereal diseases or diseases of the generative organs.
