HWDSB Continues to Press the 'Unlearning Process'Our Council has again spent much of our effort in addressing the very significant issue of the forming of the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB) Equity Policy. 2 years ago, Trustee Brennan referred to it as the "Unlearning Process". It was to be a policy which would attempt to 'unlearn' our children regarding Judeo-Christian truths and principles we work so hard to instill. Following significant efforts by our Council, Council partners, legal counsel and our prayer warriors, HWDSB invited us to participate in the formation of the Sexual Orientation strand of the Equity Policy. This invitation in itself was a miracle and the impact of our presence is being felt. Please refer to the article in this newsletter. |
8th Annual Scavenger Hunt for BirthrightHWFAC sponsored the 8th Annual Scavenger Hunt for Birthright at Annunciation of Our Lord Parish. 10 churches attended and contributed 948.5 pounds of infant and maternity clothing and supplies as well as $1,245.00 in cash; a very significant morning! This year's Scavenger Hunt will be hosted by Saint's Peter and Paul Parish on Saturday June 17th. Watch your e-mail and our website for more details. If you would like to participate, contact Penny Enos at (905) 304-7944. |
Another Family Action Council has been spawned!Through our website, we were contacted for assistance in establishing a new Family Action Council which would work with it's local municipality and school board to restore, preserve and protect Biblical Judeo-Christian principles and truths. In November, HWFAC traveled to Madoc (north of Belleville) and ran an instructional and motivational workshop. Soon after, the Hastings Prince Edward Family Action Council was birthed and is now advancing the cause. For more details, please refer to the article in this newsletter. |
Growth and Development (Sex-Ed) Curriculum - 4th EditionIn March of 2004, our Council was contacted by the school board to preview the latest 4th edition of the Growtth and Development Curriculum. This was in advance of it being released to the classroom. Over a period of 4 months the 400 plus page document was reviewed and critiqued line by line and meetings were held with the Superintendent and staff to discuss our many concerns. To date, the document has not yet been released and the discussions are continuing. For more details, please refer to the article in this newsletter. |
HWFAC Web Site ActivityHWFAC's Web Site served us well in 2005. During the 3rd and 4th quarter, there were 9,600 page requests. Through our website, we are hearing from individuals and organizations from across the country for information and advice. Of great benefit locally, our website increases our presence and enhances accessibility to those with similar convictions and concerns. Standing on Biblical Judeo-Christian principles, we fulfill our mission by informing others regarding local concerns, and of soldiers on the front lines who require prayer support. Our website greatly magnifies our efforts to motivate others to write letters and to call officials. We also use the website to assist in the promotion of events and efforts of our partner organizations. Our website is regularly updated and is found at hamiltonfamilyaction.org.Please pray and continue to work with HWFAC as we endeavour to restore, preserve and defend traditional Biblical Judeo-Christian family principles & values. |
