JUST PRESENT IT!

Prime argument:No ideology/religion/worldview is to have primacy in the public schools. Definitions now in place would not eliminate bias, prejudice and stereotyping, which an Equity Policy is supposed to do, but would push aside tolerance, personal discernment and religious belief, and indoctrinate our children with a purely secular humanistic ideology. Furthermore, minority groups, such as the Judeo-Christian community, have the right to express and retain their spiritual understandings and beliefs in the public education system within a pluralistic society.

Ministry of Education: When one of our parents asked the Ministry in May 2004 what the Education Act, Policy Memoranda and common law have to say regarding the teaching of homosexuality, and other sexual orientations, as well as the authority and/or roles that the local school board, the local school councils, and the ETFO play, the Ministry responded by saying, "The health and physical education curriculum policy documents contain expectations relating to healthy sexuality. Sexual orientation in itself is not a specific topic within the curriculum. It is the role of teachers and school boards to determine how they intend to implement the curriculum. However, to ensure that all students in the province have an equal opportunity to achieve their full potential, the education system must be free from discrimination." The Ministry went on to refer our parent to the Ontario Schools Code of Conduct.
