Equity Policy ALERT !!

We have presented the argument that "opinions" such as the opinion that homosexuality is unnatural cannot be subject to any sanctions or discipline in our free and democratic society. We have argued that Judeo-Christian is both a moral and evidence-based position, and that parents are against the sexualization of their children within the classroom. Sexual orientation teaching and affirming is not mandated by any law or court, except in terms of respect for all persons (not their sexual practices ), and the issues of bullying, discrimination and harassment. This is what the Equity Policy can legitimately address. The Truth is that a deviation from hetersexual orientation is preventable and treatable, if the person wishes to pursue it. The behaviors associated with unnatural sexual acts bring great risk to a person's health. Full article.

Please call or write your Trustee about the your objection to replacing 'respect for persons' with a policy that will affirm all sexual conduct while labeling students and staff as "heterosexist" and "homophobic."

Sex-Ed Curriculum - For Better or For Worse
Sex Ed ALERT !!
In our March newsletter, we informed our readers of some of the positive aspects found in Edition 4 of the Grade 5-8 curriculum such as numerous occasions when students are directed to discuss things with their parents or clergy and the promised inclusion of the point that no Grade 8 student meets the criteria of being able to make a responsible decision to engage in sexual activity.

We also raised concerns regarding detailed ... See Full Article. See or Sex Ed Index Page for all articles, correspondence and pertinent links.
Alternative Faith-Based Education (P.A.C.E.)
WHY
PACE? This program, when piloted, will provide students with the Ontario Curriculum, but within an environment and with curriculum materials that are sensitive toward families with a Judeo-Christian background. The School Board, in order to avoid having to defend these schools, wishes to see the Ministry of Education define "types of schools" in its policy. See Program Proposal, Board Protocol and Correspondence. public sex education
Declaration of Spiritual Values
Includes Public Education topics, such as: Family Life, Sex Education, Religious Instruction, and Medical Treatment.

This is a tool used for parents of students in the public school system to assist them in communicating with their child's teachers and principal, and school councils regarding issues of their family's faith and belief as they apply to the principles taught and the materials used in schools.

Teachers often wish to accommodate the student's family values. Just inform them of what they are, and ask them to notify you when these subjects come up.
Charter, OHRC, Education
The Charter of Rights and Freedoms,
Ontario Human Rights Commission, Ministry of Education documents affirm Respect and Equal Opportunity for All.

These documents undergird our fundamental freedoms:
a) freedom of conscience and religion;
b) freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression.

Tolerance dictates recognition of and respect for the opinions, practices, or behavior of others. However, respect does not include acceptance, but the avoidance of interference.
Secular humanists practice the principle of convergence liberalism while people of faith believe in the principles of pluralistic liberalism.
